Beginners Crash Course to Romance

Image
Many people are not hopeless romantics like I would call myself. Yet, we all have the potential to being romantic and adding ROMANCE to our intimate relationships. If you are not the romantic "type" or you are but want to enhance your romantic touch, then let's go on a crash course to get you started on the right track.  First lets start by reviewing our definition for ROMANCE at one of my first blog postings,  http://romancequeen101.blogspot.com/2014/12/what-is-romance.html . We defined ROMANCE as " Romance is HOW you express your affection for your partner IN ADDITION to your normal, everyday routine. Going above and beyond what she expects on a daily basis." So let's start there. Know the definition of ROMANCE and that it means EXPRESS YOURSELF. Do not be afraid to be sensitive, mushy, or silly for expressing how you feel with your words and actions. Make a habit of positively expressing how you feel on a regular basis (and its nice if you notice when t...

Why No Romance

Image
When talking to several men about why they are not romantic, there were a couple of standard responses: 1. What does it meant to be romantic? 2. Why, when the women I have been romantic to don't appreciate it? 3. When is the right time to start being romantic? All of these are valid reasons for not being romantic but they are not reasons to continue being in a romantic rut. To be romantic, you have to have some sense of the person you are dating, courting or involved with. We have discussed before how to get to know your special someone on a previous blog,  http://romancequeen101.blogspot.com/2014/12/keys-to-romance.html . Getting to know the person you are fond of is important to being romantic with and for them. Knowing what makes them smile, laugh, blush and turns them on are all keys to creating a romantic environment for your special someone. You can do these in little ways or in really big ways. Being romantic is not a science. It should be natural and meaningful. Litt...

How Romantic Are You?

Image
When thinking about romance, we have to look at ourselves in the mirror to figure out just how romantic we are currently. Are we a hopeless romantic- a person who is consistently romantic and always looking for new ways to romance their mate? Are we romantic on occasion- when the time presents itself, we take full advantage of it (for instance on Valentine's Day or your mate's birthday). Or are you romantic only when your mate expresses that she/he wishes that you would be?  I myself, would say that I am a hopeless romantic because I see romance in practically everything. Movies, music, older couples, childhood sweethearts, shopping and more! I love everything that can be considered romance and enjoy helping others set up romantic experiences for their mates. If you are reading my blog, then something in you is curious about being more romantic in your life. Since I have not been writing for a while, lets go back to a few previous blogs. In my blog, What is Romance,  htt...

I'm Back to Commit to Romance

Image
In early March my mother and I got a phone call that my sister was being flown to the hospital. She had an aneurysm and her family needed to come immediately. We jumped up and drove nine hours to Fairfax, VA from Charlotte, NC to be there by her side. She almost died. After losing my father May 3, 2014 and in late March finding out my mom had early stage breast cancer was enough to re-focus my attention on family. Through those months I received several messages via Facebook and through email that people were missing this blog and wanted to make sure I was okay. I love writing and especially about Romance but it was great knowing that people were actually reading my blog, taking the advice, renewing romance in their lives and wanted to hear more! So here I am, mom has finished her 6 week radiation treatments and in remission; my sister is alive and doing better and we are closer as a family. Now I can get back to what I love doing- writing and keeping Romance alive. Ask yourself th...

Keys to Romance- Caring is Sharing!

Image
So Valentine's Day has past and hopefully you are still in a romantic mood. Our last Key to Romance as mentioned here  http://romancequeen101.blogspot.com/2014/12/keys-to-romance.html is finding out how much you truly care for your special someone. Your special someone is obviously important to you or they wouldn't be special to you, so this is not about how much you care for them but how much you care about their views on romance, showing them love, and treating them to something special on an ongoing basis.  Some people are not big on romance and that's okay but everyone should be big on loving the one you're with and caring whether they know how much you DO CARE and how much you do feel for them. Your actions speak louder than words, as people say and being romantic is a perfect way to show through actions how much you care for your special someone and feel for them. You can do this is many ways, big and small, but the its the thought that counts that means...

Its Almost Valentine's! Are you Ready?

Image
Valentine's is almost here and I am super excited? Are you? This is a special day to many of us, not because its the one day to show our love and appreciation for our special someone, but because its the one day that the world celebrates Love! I love the idea of everyone loving Love. Does that make sense? With everything going on in the world, its great to have one day that people are focused on loving each other. Just like when a tragedy happens like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the two officers being killed in New York for no reason in their police car,  everyone after those tragic events becomes really nice to each other for just a little while. Is it right? No but I'm sure you will agree with me that after tragedies people get a bit nicer and love harder. Days like Valentine's is a reminder to the world that Love still exists. Love still can make the world a happier place and we all deserve to be loved. We should feel like this all year round but unfortunately some ...

6 Days Until Valentine's Day- Where are You Going?

Image
Valentine's Day is coming and I hope that you have chosen your special someone to spend this special day with. Now the question is, what to do? When considering a place to go, think about your Valentine. What are some things they like to do? Where are some places they have mentioned that they would like to visit that they haven't yet? Where have they expressed to you that they would like to go with you? What are some things they said they would like to try one day but haven't had the time or money to? What are some new things you might enjoy doing together? Always keep in mind your Valentine's likes, desires, special requests and hints of things they would like to do, see or visit. You can also consider referrals from friends, family and colleagues or people that share your same interest. Where have they visited and recommended to you? Maybe consider double dating with another couple you enjoy hanging out with? Or maybe you can check your local paper and find ...
